Last year was the first time I've ever been to Spooky Empire. It's a well-known horror convention. It takes place over a period of 3-days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), in October. Last year, a hurricane prevented them from being able to host the convention. From what I heard, the National Guard took over the convention center. So they postponed the convention until December. So it was like an early birthday present for me. People travel from other states and other countries to attend Spooky Empire. It's in Orlando, FL, which is great for me. That's only a 90-minute car ride away. Last year, they held it at the "Orange County Convention Center". It was HUGE. But Spooky Empire was only confined to ONE small section. I have EXTREMELY bad anxiety. Being around that many people was... Terrible. And within an hour of being there, I was so overwhelmed that I just wanted to leave. Meeting Butch Patrick (Eddie Munster from The Munsters) was an amazing experience. But being around thousands of people? I thought I was going to have a panic attack.
When my father and I left Spooky Empire, we went to Denny's. Which made me so happy. My mother refuses to eat at Denny's. It's a long story. So since she won't eat there, none of my family is able to eat there. Plus, the closest one to us shut down YEARS ago. And now the closest one to us... Well... Something bad happened there. And that's also a long story. Nothing bad happened to my family. It had nothing to do with any of us, or anyone we knew. We've never even been to that location. But it's just something that was really bad. I'm rambling.
This year, Spooky Empire will be from October 27th until October 29th. And since my boyfriend will be coming back on October 18th, I wanted to give Spooky Empire another shot. You see, my boyfriend has the power to calm all of my nerves. Being around him puts me in the most relaxed and serene mindset. So I figured going to Spooky Empire with the love of my life would be a BETTER experience for me. And Spooky Empire was having a Friday the 13th sale going on. Tickets are usually $30 on Friday, $35 on Saturday, and $30 on Sunday. So if my father paid full price to take Steven and me to Spooky Empire, on Friday, the total cost would be $105. And that's super expensive. Plus the cost of a rental car, since my mother doesn't want us to drive that far away in our car. Anyway... The Friday the 13th sale was for $13 tickets for Friday ONLY. So that turns out to be $39 for all three of us to go to Spooky Empire. Sooooo... My father bought our Spooky Empire tickets!
It's going to be quite the experience. My boyfriend really doesn't have that much knowledge about horror. Which is kind of strange, since he's OBSESSED with vampires. So when he was here last time, I tried to watch as many horror films with him as possible. And this time around, we're going to watch even more horror films! Especially since he'll be here for 8-months! But my boyfriend has never been to a convention. Or anything revolving around horror. He's never even been to a haunted house OR carved a pumpkin. So when he's here, we're going to a haunted house AND carving pumpkins. I need to make his visit super special. I want him to properly experience Halloween and horror stuff. I just want him to have an amazing time.
