Yesterday was busy.

As soon as I woke up, I had to go over to the DMV to get my learner's permit renewed.  It expired this year, and I didn't even realize it.  It felt like I was there forever.  And even though their website said they charge a $25 renewal fee plus a $15 late fee, they charged us $69.25.   The lady said, "It's always been this price.  I don't know what website you went to, but it's not accurate."  Thankfully, my parents covered that fee.  Which is good, because I wouldn't be able to cover it.

After that, I went over to "America's Best" and had an eye exam done.  My vision isn't terrible, but it's also not perfect.  My left eye is 20/25 and my right eye is 20/40.  But the good news is that nothing else is wrong with my eyes.  So I don't have any retina or cataract issues or anything.

And after all of that, I had to search for a new bank.  "Bank of America" has decided to get rid of all their "e-Checking" accounts and switching them over to their "Core Checking" accounts.  The "e-Checking" accounts were free.  The "Core Checking" accounts require a monthly maintenance fee of $12.  And with me being unemployed, I can't afford a yearly $144 fee.  The only way to get the $12 monthly maintenance fee waived is to have a Direct Deposit of $250 or more per pay cycle.  So a total of, at least, $500 a month.  Which I don't have.  And looking for a bank WITHOUT any fees was nearly impossible.  I did manage to track down a "Capital One 360 Checking" account.  It's ALMOST perfect.  There's no minimum account balance, no monthly maintenance fee, no money required to open the account (My account is still sitting at $0.00, for instance), your first box of checks are free, you get a free debit card, and their Customer Service is amazing.  Unfortunately, they're NOT perfect.  If you have cash to deposit, you're pretty much screwed.  And with me selling handmade jewelry items, locally, that was an issue.  Customer Service basically told me to get a Money Order and MAIL it to them.  But if you don't carry around cash, and just rely on Direct Deposits, then this account is PERFECT!  But since I do need to deposit cash... I really didn't want to WAIT until they receive the money order.  If I have money, I want to be able to use it A.S.A.P. - You know?  So I did end up finding a local bank.  I opened my account.  And they're giving me a $100 bonus, too.  I don't know when that will be available, though.  But that $100 will come in handy.

I could take my boyfriend out for our Valentine's Day dinner AND our 1-Year-Anniversary dinner, and the cost of dinner would be completely covered by the $100 bank bonus.  That would be REALLY nice.  Speaking of my boyfriend... His grandparents said the first week of February would work.  So I have to wait a little over a month, but then I get to see my LoveBug again!  So I'm HOPING February 3rd will be a good day for him to visit.  Fingers crossed!

Something pretty cool happened, too.  Build-A-Bear sent me an email with a coupon for $10 off my next purchase.  I went onto their website, found an $8 teddy bear I liked, and went through the checkout process.  Not only was the teddy bear free, but the shipping was ALSO free.  They weren't even doing a special promo for free shipping, either.  And their shipping is usually $5.95.  So I got a free teddy bear with free shipping.  And that should be here soon.  I'm excited!
